Easy Steps to Geocaching at Burning Rock Off-Road Park

1. Register on Burning Rock Off-Road Park website and purchase a permit at the trail head.  You will have to ride an ATV to find these caches.
2. Go to the Forum and click "Club Talk"
3. Chose any geocachace from the list and enter coordinates in your GPS Unit
4. Use your GPS unit to assist you in finding the hidden geocaches
5. If you find a hidden cache sign the log book and return the geocache to its original location
6. Share your geocaching stories and photos online at the Burning Rock Off-Road Park website

Before You Go

• Find the geocache that will meet your immediate goals.  Are you looking for a difficult ride or an easy adventure?  If you're headed out on the trail, pack any needed supplies such as water, food and extra clothing.  Bring both a map and a compass.  Check geocache terrain and trail difficulty ratings.  Some caches will be off trail but within the park boundary some hiking may be required.  Watch for snakes in warm weather.
• For safety, let someone know where you are going and let someone at the trail head know which geocache search you are doing.  Each cache will have a name.
• Do not forget your GPS Unit and extra batteries.

Get Out and Play

• Mark the trail head as a way point to ensure your safe return also pick up a trail map in the General Store.
• Be mindful of the environment, practice Cache in Trash out.
• Bring friends and family with you; sharing the experience can be very rewarding.  Pets are usually welcome too!
• Remember that distances can be deceiving.  A geocache can take longer to find depending on trails, creeks and other obstacles there are about 100 miles of trails within the park.

• If you take something from the geocache, leave something of equal or greater value.
• Write about your experience in the geocache logbook.
